About Me

Hello there! I'm Annie and this is my foray into the world of blogging.

I was raised in Sydney, and have since lived in Glasgow, Dublin, Brisbane and have now been London-based for coming up to eight years. I never dreamed that I would be based in this city for so long. But the UK is now home, and I received my British citizenship in June 2012... just in time to be able to cheer for both Team GB and Australia during the London Olympics. And I have to profess to adoring the quick route through immigration that my new passport now affords me every time I fly into London!

In my day to day life I have a full-time hospital-based job - I trained as an occupational therapist, spent more years than I care to count pursing post-graduate degrees and now work in research. It is thanks to my career that I've had the opportunities to work in several countries. However, the lovely influence of my mother and grandmother also ensured that I grew up learning a range of handcraft skills that could be called quaint and old-fashioned. I can sew, knit, embroider, quilt and smock ... but with the resurgence of the 'make do and mend' culture I'm now discovering how valuable these skills can be - not to mention that they give me a lot of pleasure.

I've also been addicted to home renovation television programmes and magazines for more years that I care to count, and am now in the frustrating phase of serious saving to enable me to buy my first property. Discovering the existence of so many beautiful design and decoration blogs is certainly helping to keep me motivated to achieve my saving goal...I can't wait to really be able to put my own mark on a home. In the meantime, I have to content myself with trying to bring some elegance and charm to my little rental flat.

So, this blog is a little place to share the little touches of my world that make me happy and inspire me ... whether that be putting those timeless sewing skills to good use, capturing the images that bring grace and beauty to my life, and hopefully, connecting with a community of bloggers that share the same interests.

I hope you enjoy sharing a little of my world - I certainly enjoy the glimpses I have of all of yours!
